Mixed Blessings

I went to a Bar Mitzvah today (Yes, I was invited). One of my favorite students asked if I would not only come, but also play a small part in the ceremony. I was quite honored he asked. I think I was able to gain some of his confidence with all of the sports games I've taken him to the last couple of years. It was a smooth ceremony, however it was one that I wasn't used too-because it was directed mainly by women. This fact is fine, in fact I could get quite used to it, but I thought the synagogue I was in was orthodox.
Despite this revelation, my part in the cermony had me reciting several hebrew blessings in front of an audience of about seventy. On top of this nightmare, all my blessing predecessors were singing their blessings. Well I didn't sing them, nor did I mess them up. However it should be noted that I usually have trouble just speaking to a group of three, so for all those absent from this event, you missed a bit of a miracle at the non-orthodox synagogue over on Clement Street.

The Journey Begins

What can I write? It is difficult to assess. I know if I write about the things that are on my mind I will be in deep trouble with the people I know. The idea is farrago. Eventually I will hurt someone's (most likely it will be me from some sort of ridiculous guilt that will hold me hostage for weeks after the event) feelings.
Well, what ever happens I will find my way with this blogging thing. Hopefully the reader will not be too bored as I tiptoe my way around certain issues and feelings.....maybe.
