Coached by the Best

One of the perks of working a in Union Square is that I get to meet some celebrities. Some of these celebrities are in the store for business, but the majority of them are there for shopping.

On Monday, I was on a lunch break and I passed the San Antonio Spurs basketball team boarding their bus for their game that night vs. Golden State. Although I could have jumped in line with all of the other autograph seekers, I decided against it, and I just played the part of voyeur.

Fate had me in mind the next day though, because a bunch of the players came into the store to read and to do some shopping. I was able to speak to Bruce Bowen for a minute, and to ask him about the debacle behind this years olympic basketball assembly. A couple of hours later I met coach Greg Poppavich. I don't know what had come over me, but I asked him how I could play better defense when a guard may be quicker than me. He then told me "to move my feet." But then he started to display the foot motions and movements to me in the middle of aisle, coaching me in effect. That was too cool. And now, I can say that this is true, that I, too, have been coached by an NBA world champion.
